Stories that deserve to be heard
The Mighty Eighth Podcast brings to life the extraordinary story of the US Eighth Army Air Force – the young Americans who flew from English airfields deep into Nazi-occupied Europe, and the communities that stood alongside them.
Arriving in England in 1942, the Mighty Eighth was the biggest air armada of all time, capable of sending thousands of planes on a single mission.
By mid-1944, it had a total strength of more than 200,000 people, with more than 2,000 four-engine bombers and 1,000 fighters targeting occupied Europe.
Through careful research, eyewitness accounts and on-location recording, we tell the human stories behind the history.
